Regular Season Round 22: Szombathely - Szedeak 93-72
Date: February 12, 2022
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Szedeak (10-12) was outplayed on the road by first ranked Szombathely (18-3) 93-72 on Saturday. Szombathely looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International Zoltan Perl (195-95, agency: BeoBasket) fired 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Gyorgy Goloman (211-96, college: UCLA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Szombathely players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Kristof Bognar (205-94) produced 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Keandre Cook (196-97, college: Missouri St.) added 19 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Szombathely have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-3 record. Loser Szedeak keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Duna Aszfalt. Szombathely will meet bottom-ranked Atomeromu (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Szedeak will play against DEAC (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
