Regular Season Round 15: Anagennises - Zinonas 96-26

There was no surprise in Limassol where 6th ranked Zinonas (1-14) was crushed by third ranked Anagennises (11-3) 96-26 on Sunday. The game without a history. Anagennises led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zinonas to just 3 points in third quarter and to 11 points in second half. Anagennises held Zinonas to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Anagennises forced 28 Zinonas turnovers and outrebounded them 47-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Zinonas' players. It was a great evening for American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-95, college: CBU) who led her team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals (on 17-of-22 shooting from the field). Naturalized Bulgarian power forward Styliana Velinova (192-0) helped adding 19 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Coach Iraklis Pittakas's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Michaela Thoma (175-3) with 8 points and 4 steals and guard Ekaterina Petrou (174-5) scored 4 points and 8 rebounds. Anagennises have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-3 record behind leader AEL. Newly promoted Zinonas stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost.
