Regular Season Round 19: Omonia - AEK Larnaca 64-74

OPAP Basket League top team - AEK Larnaca (16-3) managed to deliver another win on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Omonia (10-9) in Nicosia 74-64. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. AEK Larnaca dominated on the defensive end, holding Omonia to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a great evening for American guard Quentin Snider (188-1995, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Iakovos Panteli (187-1985) helped adding 10 points and 8 assists. At the losing side Irish guard Sean Flood (188-1996, college: Longwood) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists and American forward Donovan Smith (207-1993, college: Quinnipiac) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five AEK Larnaca and four Omonia players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-3 record. Omonia at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Apollon. AEK Larnaca are looking forward to face AEL (#8) in Limassol in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Omonia will play on the road against Apollon in Limassol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
