Regular Season Round 37: Unics-2 - Lokomotiv-2 69-68

Important game to mention about took place in Kazan. Seventh ranked Unics-2 (17-17) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Lokomotiv-2 (20-14) 69-68 on Friday evening. It looked good early as Lokomotiv-2 took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Unics-2 had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and Lokomotiv-2 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-69. Unics-2 made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Lokomotiv-2 turnovers. Lokomotiv-2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sergey Polstyanov (194-2002) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Guard Anatoly Gunter (183-2003) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Unics-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Lev Kuzmenko (204-2003) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and guard Daniil Ishchenko (190-2003) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lokomotiv-2. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Unics-2 maintains seventh place with 17-17 record. Lokomotiv-2 at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Unics-2 will play against higher ranked Zenit-2 (#3) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
