The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Achilleas K.'s (8-11) road victory over 10th ranked APOP (6-14) in Paphou 83-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Achilleas K.. APOP managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding APOP to just 7 points in first quarter. Achilleas K. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to APOP's 34. They outrebounded APOP 41-29 including 34 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Isiah Brown (188, college: Weber St.) who scored that evening 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Fuquan Niles (211-1995, college: CWU) supported him with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Achilleas K.'s coach Kuriakou Yiangoulis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by American point guard Dee Davis (178-1993, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) did not help to save the game for APOP. Bosnian-Serbian Nikola Dakovic (203, college: Snow CC) added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Achilleas K. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Anorthosis. APOP lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Achilleas K. will meet at home higher ranked Keravnos (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. APOP will play against E.N. Paralimni (#4) and hope to secure a win.
