Regular Season Round 41: UMMC Junior - Novocherkassk 78-91

No shocking result in a game in Yekaterinburg where seventh ranked Novocherkassk (16-17) defeated 9th ranked UMMC Junior (13-22) 91-78 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Novocherkassk especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Masha Adashchyk (180-1998, college: Minnesota) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) for the winners and swingman Darya Levchenko (182-1994, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 21 points. Power forward Margarita Kuzyakina (190-2002) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Darya Sharova (171-2002) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Four UMMC Junior players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Novocherkassk. Newly promoted Novocherkassk maintains seventh place with 16-17 record. Loser UMMC Junior keeps the ninth position with 22 games lost. Novocherkassk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UMMC Junior will play again against Novocherkassk (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
