Regular Season Round 41: Spartak SP - Kazanochka 95-85

We should mention about the upset which took place in Sankt Petersburg, where 4th placed Kazanochka (21-14) lost to tenth ranked Spartak SP (9-26) in a road game 85-95. Spartak SP forced 19 Kazanochka turnovers. Point guard Elena Melnikova (175-1988) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!). Forward Alexandra Andrushchenko (180-2001) contributed with 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Swingman Yulia Zakharova (175-1998) answered with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and point guard Ekaterina Golovchenko (174-1994) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Kazanochka. Five Kazanochka players scored in double figures. Kazanochka's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Spartak SP maintains tenth place with 9-26 record. Kazanochka lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Spartak SP will again play against higher ranked Kazanochka (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kazanochka will have a break next round.
