Regular Season Round 20: AEK Larnaca - AEL 84-65

OPAP Basket League top team - AEK Larnaca (17-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked AEL (8-12) 84-65. It looked good early as AEL took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then AEK Larnaca took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 19 points. They outrebounded AEL 52-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. AEK Larnaca players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Quentin Snider (188-1995, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and Australian forward Jesse Hunt (203-1997, college: EWU) who added 17 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five AEK Larnaca players scored in double figures. American center DeAngelo Riley (206-1988, college: Azusa Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Alante Fenner (196-1993, college: SSU) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. AEK Larnaca have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-3 record. AEL at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. AEK Larnaca will play against bottom-ranked ENAD (#12) in Nicosia in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AEL's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Limassol Apollon.
