Regular Season Round 42: Chevakata - Neftyanik 68-69

The most exciting game of round 42 in the Superleague 1 took place in Vologda. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Chevakata (23-13) to second ranked Neftyanik (26-10) 69-68 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Chevakata. Neftyanik dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Chevakata's 18. Neftyanik forced 19 Chevakata turnovers. It was a good game for Svetlana Kramar (177-1998) who saved her team from a defeat with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Center Nadezhda Matrosova (185-1993) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Elena Mikhaylova (183-2000) replied with 25 points and center Alina Bezborodova (185-2000) added 10 points in the effort for Chevakata. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neftyanik have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 26-10 record having just three points less than leader Dynamo-Farm. Chevakata at the other side keeps the third place with 13 games lost. Neftyanik are looking forward to face Spartak SP (#10) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chevakata will have a break next round.
