There was a surprise result in Nicosia where eleventh ranked Etha (6-15) beat higher ranked Anorthosis (9-12) 81-76 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-18. But Anorthosis won second period 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Etha won last quarter 20-16. They made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Anorthosis only scored six points from the stripe. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Johnathan Hudson (180-1987, college: Texas A&M) who scored 42 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Wesley Harris (203-1997, college: Tennessee St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nick Banyard (203-1994, college: UCF, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Orlando Parker (203-1991, college: Wagner) added 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Anorthosis' coach Vasilis Chrysalas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Etha moved-up to tenth place, which they share with APOP. Newly promoted Anorthosis keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with AEL. Etha will meet APOP (#11) in the next round. Anorthosis will play against Omonia (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
