Regular Season Round 42: Novomoskovsk - Metallurg MGN 104-97

The most important game in the last round took place in Tula between third ranked Metallurg MGN (26-12) and ninth ranked Novomoskovsk (15-23) on Sunday night. Metallurg MGN was defeated by Novomoskovsk in a tough game on the road 97-104. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Metallurg MGN. Novomoskovsk made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for forward Stanislav Sotnikov (200-1985, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Daniil Glazov (191-2001) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Novomoskovsk's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Sergey Rasskazov (195-1992) replied with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Vladislav Ilinov (182-1999) added 18 points in the effort for Metallurg MGN. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Novomoskovsk maintains ninth position with 15-23 record. Metallurg MGN at the other side keeps the third place with 12 games lost. Novomoskovsk are looking forward to face higher ranked Rusichi K. (#4) in Kursk in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Metallurg MGN's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Chelyabinsk Chelbasket.
