Second Stage Round 6: Alba - Kormend 97-77

The most important game in the last round took place in Szekesfehervar between second ranked Kormend (3-2) and fourth ranked Alba (2-3) on Wednesday night. Kormend was crushed by Alba on the road 97-77. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 24. Alba looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Kormend's players. 24 personal fouls committed by Kormend helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Lenzelle Smith Jr (193-1991, college: Ohio St.) who scored 17 points and 9 assists. Naturalized Nigerian power forward Godwin Omenaka (205-2000) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Alba players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Maliek White (190-1998, college: Providence) who recorded 18 points and 5 assists and the former international forward Csaba Ferencz (196-1985) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alba moved-up to third place, which they share with Szolnok and Sopron KC. Kormend at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Alba is looking forward to face league's leader Szombathely on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kormend will play against Sopron KC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
