Top ranked Szombathely (28-5) recorded its fifth loss on the court of third ranked Kormend on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Kormend 85-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Szombathely. 26 personal fouls committed by Szombathely helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Csaba Ferencz (196-1985) who scored 23 points and 4 assists. American power forward Wesley Gordon (206-1994, college: Colorado) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Kormend players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international Zoltan Perl (195-1995, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Akos Keller (208-1989) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Szombathely's coach Milos Konakov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kormend maintains third place with 20-14 record having seven points less than leader Duna Aszfalt. Defending champion Szombathely still keeps top position with five games lost. Kormend will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Szombathely will play at home against the league's second-placed Szolnok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
