There was a minor upset in Krasnoyarsk where 6th ranked Enisey (2-3) was crushed by ninth ranked Samara (2-3) 97-77 on Saturday. Samara made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Samara especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Anna Zaitceva (182-1999) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian point guard Sanja Mandic (178-1995) chipped in 11 points and 8 assists. Power forward Ekatarina Polyashova-Burova (189-1996, agency: LBM Management) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Ekaterina Golovchenko (174-1994) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Samara moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Enisey. Samara will meet higher ranked Nadezhda (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Enisey will play against the league's leader Dynamo K. and hope to secure a win.
