There was no surprise in Moscow where 7th ranked Unics-2 (2-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Runa-2 (5-1) 75-61 on Wednesday. Runa-2 made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Unics-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 50-33 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Runa-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Unics-2's players. Forward Pavel Gankevich (201-2003) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Sergey Grashkin (201-2002, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Runa-2 players scored in double figures. Guard Sergey Polstyanov (194-2002) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds and guard Anatoly Gunter (183-2003) scored 20 points. Unics-2's coach let to play twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Runa-2. They maintain fourth place with 5-1 record. Loser Unics-2 keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Khimki-2 and N.Novgorod-2. Runa-2 will meet at home N.Novgorod-2 (#8) in the next round. Unics-2 will play against the league's second-placed MBA-2 in Moscow and hope to secure a win.
