Regular Season Round 6: Chevakata - Kazanochka 66-62

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Kazanochka (5-1) in Vologda on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Chevakata (6-0) 66-62. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kazanochka. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Kazanochka 37-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Center Ekaterina Terekhova (188-1990) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Marina Sheveleva (183-1989) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Chevakata players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Karina Levenkova (166-2002) with 13 points and 4 assists and guard Alina Novikova (175-1997) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Chevakata have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Kazanochka at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with UMMC Junior and MBA-2. Chevakata are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Novocherkassk (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
