There was an upset when higher ranked Samara (4-6) was smashed by tenth ranked Dynamo NR (3-7) in Novosibirsk 85-66 on Thursday. Dynamo NR made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Dynamo NR outrebounded Samara 45-31 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Ashley Beverly-Kelley (168-1993, college: Troy) notched 27 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Puerto Rican forward Mya Hollingshed (190-1999, college: Colorado) supported her with 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Dynamo NR players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by the former international Daria Kolosovskaya (182-1996, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Samara. The former international power forward Anna Zaitceva (182-1999) added 14 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Dynamo NR moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rostov. Loser Samara dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Enisey. Dynamo NR will meet higher ranked Enisey (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Samara will play against Sparta&K MR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
