Regular Season Round 7: Duna Aszfalt - Szombathely 85-95

A Division top team - Szombathely (6-1) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat fifth ranked Duna Aszfalt (4-3) in Kecskemet 95-85. They outrebounded Duna Aszfalt 37-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Stefan Pot (194-1994) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 9 assists. Benedek Kovacs (201-2001) helped adding 20 points and 4 steals. Szombathely's coach Milos Konakov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Montenegrin swingman Milos Borisov (201-1985) responded with 22 points and American-Dominican center Marques Townes (193-1995, college: Loyola, IL) scored 13 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Szombathely have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Szolnok. Duna Aszfalt lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Sopron KC and OSE Lions. Szombathely is looking forward to face Atomeromu (#10) in Paks in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Duna Aszfalt will play on the road against Bp. Honved (#13) in Budapest and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
