Regular Season Round 8: Omonia - Keravnos 52-58

Bottom-ranked Omonia (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 58-52 loss to third ranked Keravnos (5-1) in Nicosia. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-9. But Omonia won second period 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keravnos forced 24 Omonia turnovers. American-Gambian Ousman Krubally (201-1988, college: Georgia St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Deondre Burns (190-1997, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Canadian guard Cody John (190-1996, college: Weber St., agency: Helping Ballers) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Elias Harden (198-1999, college: EWC) added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Omonia. Keravnos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with AEL. Omonia at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Keravnos will play against league's second-placed AEL in Limassol in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Omonia will play on the road against Apollon (#6) in Limassol and hopes to get finally their first victory.
