Regular Season Round 8: AEK Larnaca - Etha 82-59
Date: December 4, 2022
The game in Larnaca supposed to be also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Etha (4-3) played at the court of sixth ranked AEK Larnaca (4-3). AEK Larnaca smashed Etha 82-59 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Etha. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-59. AEK Larnaca dominated on the defensive end, holding Etha to just 7 points in third quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Etha's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Brison Gresham (203-1998, college: Texas Southern) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 15 rebounds and the former international swingman Andreas Christodoulou (197-1995) who added 22 points during the contest. Four AEK Larnaca players scored in double figures. American forward Jaylen Key (203-1997, college: New Orleans, agency: One Motive Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Australian-South Sudanese forward Madut Akec (201-1999, college: Detroit) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK Larnaca moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Etha. AEK Larnaca will meet E.N. Paralimni (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Etha will play against the league's second-placed AEL (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
