Regular Season Round 10: Keravnos - AEL 39-94

Division A top team - AEL (10-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Keravnos (0-10) in Nicosia 94-39. The game without a history. AEL led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Keravnos to just 6 points in first quarter. AEL held Keravnos to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Keravnos 57-28 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. AEL players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Keravnos' players. American swingman Hailey Leidel (180-1997, college: UMass) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Eleni Oikonomidou (180-1997) supported her with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Four AEL players scored in double figures. AEL's coach Giorgos Palalas felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 9 points and 8 rebounds by Vasiliki Pousiapake (176-2005) did not help to save the game for Keravnos. Naturalized British Chrystalla Merkouri (182-1975) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. AEL have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Keravnos at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost.
