Regular Season Round 11: Anagennises - Youth Stars 84-32

There was no surprise in Limassol where 5th ranked Youth Stars (3-8) was crushed by second ranked Anagennises (9-2) 84-32. The game without a history. Anagennises led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Youth Stars to just 6 points in second and fourth quarters and to 14 points in second half. Anagennises dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Youth Stars' 14. Anagennises forced 27 Youth Stars turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Anagennises players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Youth Stars' players. American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-1995, college: CBU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 17-of-22 shooting from the field). Naturalized Bulgarian power forward Styliana Velinova (192-2000) contributed with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Anagennises' coach Iraklis Pittakas felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ellada Gavrielidou (165-2004) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Christina Nikolakopoulou (163-2006) added 8 points in the effort for Youth Stars. Defending champion maintains second place with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader AEL. Newly promoted Youth Stars dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with ENAD.
