Regular Season Round 13: AEK Larnaca - Omonia 83-54

Very expected game when 11th ranked Omonia (1-11) was crushed on the road by third ranked AEK Larnaca (9-3) 83-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by AEK Larnaca. Omonia managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AEK Larnaca dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Omonia's 26. They outrebounded Omonia 41-22 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. AEK Larnaca looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Australian forward Jesse Hunt (203-1997, college: EWU) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Darrion Strong-Moore (185-1994, college: UAFS) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists. Four AEK Larnaca players scored in double figures. American swingman Elias Harden (198-1999, college: EWC) produced 18 points and the other American import power forward Jordan Dallas (208-1997, college: Seattle) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for AEK Larnaca. They maintain third place with 9-3 record behind leader Keravnos. Loser Omonia stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. AEK Larnaca will meet league's leader Keravnos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Omonia will play against AEL (#4) and hope to win that game.
