Regular Season Round 12: Youth Stars - Anorthosis 25-77

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Anorthosis (8-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Youth Stars (3-9). Anorthosis smashed Youth Stars 77-25 on Sunday. The game without a history. Anorthosis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Youth Stars to just 3 points in second quarter and to 11 points in second half. Anorthosis held Youth Stars to an opponent 14.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Youth Stars 53-22 including a 43-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Anorthosis looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Youth Stars' players. The winners were led by the former international forward Tijana Raca (182-1997, college: Wyoming) who scored that evening 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Emmelia Georgiou (180-2004) supported her with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Anorthosis players scored in double figures. Anorthosis' coach Dorina Ioannidou felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 5 points and 7 rebounds by Athanasia Trifonos did not help to save the game for Youth Stars. Point guard Christina Nikolakopoulou (163-2006) added 6 points and 4 steals. Anorthosis maintains third position with 8-4 record having four points less than leader AEL. Newly promoted Youth Stars keeps the fifth place with nine games lost.
