Regular Season Round 9: Metallurg MGN - Dynamo-MGTU 86-72

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Dynamo-MGTU (13-7) against sixth ranked Metallurg MGN (8-11) on Thursday night. Visiting Dynamo-MGTU was defeated by Metallurg MGN in Chelyabinsk 86-72. Metallurg MGN dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Dynamo-MGTU's 28. Metallurg MGN forced 22 Dynamo-MGTU turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Swingman Iaroslav Vennikov (187-1999) nailed 20 points and 5 assists for the winning side and power forward Sergei Kharitonov (204-1991) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Pavel Kryaschenko (199-1998) came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Yuriy Kochnev (209-1989) added 8 points and 15 rebounds respectively for Dynamo-MGTU in the defeat. Five Metallurg MGN and four Dynamo-MGTU players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metallurg MGN moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Stavropol. Dynamo-MGTU at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Metallurg MGN will again play against higher ranked Dynamo-MGTU (#3) in Maykop in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dynamo-MGTU will have a break next round.
