Bottom-ranked Omonia managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses on Saturday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked APOP in Paphou 71-66. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 41-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Omonia made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian guard Cody John (190-1996, college: Weber St.) who led the winners and scored 22 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Romelo Burrell (201, college: Lindenwood) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American guard JaQualyn Gilbreath (188-1998, college: TWU) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Jalen Seegars (196, college: Fayetteville St.) added 16 points respectively for APOP in the defeat. Omonia (2-12) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with E.N. Paralimni. Loser APOP dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Achilleas K.. Omonia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nicosia Anorthosis.
