OPAP Basket League top team - Keravnos (13-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked APOP (4-10) in Nicosia 105-64. The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. APOP managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding APOP to just 7 points in third quarter. Keravnos shot 60.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by APOP's players. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Deondre Burns (190-1997, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) fired 21 points for the winners. Forward Zach Thomas (203-1996, college: Bucknell) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Keravnos players scored in double figures. Jeremy McLaughlin (203-1995, college: Catawba) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard JaQualyn Gilbreath (188-1998, college: TWU) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Keravnos have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. Loser APOP dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Achilleas K.. Keravnos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena Anorthosis.
