Regular Season Round 19: AEL - Etha 95-70
Date: February 11, 2023
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Etha's (7-9) road loss to fifth ranked AEL (10-7) 70-95. The game was mostly controlled by AEL. Etha was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for guard Tray Buchanan (185-1998, college: Emporia St.) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Brandon Averette (180-1997, college: BYU) accounted for 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Jaylen Key (203-1997, college: New Orleans, agency: One Motive Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Malik Curry (185-1999, college: WVU, agency: Green Sports Management) added 17 points respectively for Etha in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AEL maintains fifth place with 10-7 record. Etha at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Anorthosis. AEL will play against E.N. Paralimni (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Etha will play against AEK Larnaca (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
