Regular Season Round 20: Apollon - Keravnos 71-75

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Limassol. First ranked Keravnos faced 4th ranked Apollon. Guests from Nicosia (15-1) defeated host Apollon (12-7) 75-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Apollon. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But Apollon won third quarter 19-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Zach Thomas (203-1996, college: Bucknell) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. American-Gambian Ousman Krubally (201-1988, college: Georgia St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Zane Waterman (203-1995, college: Manhattan) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Stefanos Iliadis (185-1994, college: S.Florida) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keravnos have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Apollon at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Keravnos are looking forward to face league's second-placed Apoel in Nicosia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon will have a break next round.
