Second Stage Round 8: Rostov - Neftyanik 63-93

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Rostov's (6-25) home loss to tenth ranked Neftyanik (7-23) 63-93 on Wednesday. Neftyanik dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Rostov's 36. Neftyanik forced 27 Rostov turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Xeniya Afanasenko (166-2001) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and power forward Viktoriya Ponamarchuk (187-1995) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Center Iuliia Grabovskaia (190-2001) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Ekaterina Osipova (187-1997, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Neftyanik maintains tenth position with 7-23 record. Rostov lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 25 games lost. Neftyanik will meet at home higher ranked Enisey (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rostov will play against Dynamo M. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
