Regular Season Round 23: Lugano - Vevey Riviera 102-71

The game between third ranked Vevey Riviera (15-7) and sixth ranked Lugano (11-12) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Vevey Riviera was crushed by Lugano in Lugano 71-102. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Vevey Riviera's 28. Lugano had a 39-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Vevey Riviera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Center Justyn Hamilton (211-1999, college: Kent St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 22 rebounds and 6 blocks. Swingman Isaiah Ross (193-1996, college: Iona) contributed with 27 points and 6 assists for the winners. Point guard Malik Johnson (178-1997, college: Canisius) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists and guard Mike Williams (188-1996, college: Rutgers) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Vevey Riviera. Five Lugano and four Vevey Riviera players scored in double figures. Vevey Riviera's coach Niksa Bavcevic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Lugano maintains sixth place with 11-12 record. Vevey Riviera at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third position with seven games lost. Lugano are looking forward to face higher ranked Neuchatel (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vevey Riviera will have a break next round.
