Regular Season Round 24: ZTE KK - Atomeromu 81-78

The most exciting game of round 24 in the A Division took place in Zalaegerszeg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Atomeromu (13-11) to fourth ranked ZTE KK (16-8) 81-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atomeromu. ZTE KK forced 19 Atomeromu turnovers. Strangely Atomeromu outrebounded ZTE KK 40-28 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Atomeromu helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Mitchell Smith (208-1997, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Liam OReilly (188-1996, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 13 points and 9 assists for the winners. ZTE KK's coach Sebastjan Krasovec used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. U.S. Virgin Islands guard Deon Edwin (190-1992, college: Kent St.) replied with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Paul Atkinson (206-1999, college: Notre Dame) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Atomeromu. Five ZTE KK and four Atomeromu players scored in double figures. ZTE KK moved-up to third place, which they share with Arconic-Alba. Atomeromu at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Kormend and Sopron KC. ZTE KK is looking forward to face OSE Lions (#11) in Oraszlany in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Atomeromu will play at home against Szedeak (#13) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
