Regular Season Round 1: Achilleas K. - Apoel 76-87

But Achilleas K. was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Nicosia 87-76 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Apoel. Achilleas K. managed to win third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jayveous McKinnis (201-1999, college: Ole Miss) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Demarius Jacobs (188-2000, college: Ball St.) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five Apoel players scored in double figures. Apoel's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Canadian guard Connor Vreeken (196-2000, college: Carleton) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and American forward Zac Watson (201, college: Longwood) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Apoel will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Achilleas K. will play against AEK Larnaca and hope to win that game.
