AEL are the champions!!! Fourth consecutive title goes to Limassol!
AEL are the Cyprus champions for the fourth time in a row! The Limassol team beat Apollon in OT 88-82 and took the 2005-06 championship. The "queen" of Cyprus basketball had the support of 2000 fans that packed the "LTV-Nikos Solomonides" stadium and pushed their team to the victory. AEL broke another record since they won the title without loosing a single game in the play-offs (2-0 vs. Etha, 3-0 vs. ENAD and 3-0 vs. Apollon).
Exciting match
The game was exciting and Apollon entered the court determined to do what was necessary to take the win and force the series to a fourth game. With good defense Apollon tried to control AEL's offense. The first period had the home side leading 28-25 while at halftime the visitors went to the lockers with the advantage (45-47). With AEL missing 15 free-throws in the game, the two teams were tied at the end of match so it was Overtime in the final. With 25 seconds remaining in the OT and the score 82-82 Balsa Radunovic won the foul and made both free-throws. In the final offense of Apollon Radunovic stole the ball and dunked to make the final 86-82.
