AEK Larnakas is the champion for the 2014-2015 - Apr 21, 2015

Coach Ketselidis added another one title after beating once more his country-mate Coach Thanasis Papachatzis and APOEL with 76-67 to beat the series with 3-1 and become champion for a second consecutive season as last season the Greek Head Coach won the title in the Georgian league.

The tonight's game was a derby for 25 minutes as after that the home team with the Cyprus international guard Iakovos Iakovos Panteli (187-G-85) being simply amazing in the most crucial game of the season took a vital deficit and kept it until the very end. MVP of the game was Iakovos Iakovos Panteli not only due to his 20 points but for his overall performance, the Cyprus international guard ended the fourth and final game of this series with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 winning fouls in only 24 minutes.

The game begun with the home team being more aggressive knowing that this game its the title game and after the first five minutes of the game where the score was only 6-5 for AEK, the home team with Petrovic, Brezec and Harper took a small deficit which became smaller by the end of the period 14-11, as Evans score3d a long three pointer to cut the deficit finally to three. Both teams were very nervous and the key players of the previous games were in a bad shape.

The second period begun with the home team being even more tough to reach the double digits in the first four minutes of the period when Baptiste scored his 4th point to make the score 22-12. Kounas was there for APOEL and with personal points cut the deficit to 24-21 but Petrovic with a three pointer brought the deficit into a solid number with Harper giving to his team even more space with the score reaching the 31-23, 3.26'' to the end. Kounas with another four personal points cut the deficit but Petrovic was amazing in the specific period and with another long three pointer gave a +7 to his team two minutes to the end of the first half. Kakiouzis though with his experience and seven personal points in these last 1.40' to the end cut the deficit to just three points 36-33 when the first half ended.

The third period was the most crucial one and was actually the period where the champion team of AEK simply won the title. Coach Ketselidis players with Iakovos Panteli in an amazing shape gave a crazy rhythm to the game and even though initially APOEL cut the deficit to its minimum 7.54' to the end the score was 38-37, with a 13-4 with Iakovos Panteliscoring three 3pointers in the next five minutes the score went sky-high together with the momentum and 2.52' to the end of the 3rd period, AEK took a double digit deficit with 51-41, to end the period with another lay up by Iakovos Panteli who was unstoppable to reach 15 personal points and the score becoming 58-47. APOEL was not able to react, the key players of the Nicosia team were in a very bad shape and other than sporadic assistance from Evans and Tutt nobody else was able to help his team, it is worth mentioning that Roberson and Woods had three points per head in these 30 minutes of the game.

The fourth period was simply typical as the home team was playing with a tactic to keep its deficit to double digits and APOEL trying but not being able to "harm" AEK. The visiting side of Coach Papachatzis could not react with a low esteem and with the aggressiveness of the home team players being at its maximum, APOEL was onoly able to cut the deficit to 7 points 3.22' to the end but Brezec and Iakovos Panteli wanted this title very much ,even though Tutt gave his best, APOEL lost the title and AEK won its second title in the last three seasons!!

Top scorers:
AEK: Iakovos Panteli 20, Brezec 14 and 8 rebounds, Harper 13 and 8 rebounds, Petrovic 12
APOEL: Tutt 13, Cup 12, Kounas 12, Evans 12.
MVP of the game was Iakovos Panteli!

Super Cup: Apoel beat Apollon 74-58 and won the 1st trophy of the season! - Oct 24, 2014

In the first official game of the season 2014-2015 the champion team of Apoel Nicosia beat quite easily the cup winner team of Apollon Limassol with 74-58.

A great first period for the Nicosia team who was much better and left no chance to the team of the Greek Head Coach Chris Hougaz. The two Cyprus international players who arrived in the Cyprus league after many season in the Greek league, Kounas and Sizopoulos were great and expecially Vassilis Kounnas was very close to achieve a weird double-double figure record as he ended the game with 9 points and 9 assists!! He was also named the MVP of the finals after his total stats which were as follows 9 points, 2 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals in less than 27 minutes in the court and with 3 turnovers. Sizopoulos scored also 9 points in 18 minutes with very good statistics.

The first period ended with 21-13 and the second period with 25-14. Apoel allready developed a +17 points difference and then ofcourse everything were easier for Coach Nikos Papadopoulos who saw the American Anthony Roberson (189-G-83, college: Florida) ending up for another one game as the top scorer with 19 points and 4 rebounds followed by the small forward Jerry Evans who scored 15 points but dashed down 8 rebounds.

The third and fourt period were more balanced as Apoel "fasten" its spead and Apollon couldn't react at all since the 3rd period ended with 10-10 and the typical final period ended with 18-21.

Top scorer for Apollon was the Serbian Milos Markovic (201-G/F-84, agency: BeoExcell) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Walker Russel who scored 10 points but had 6 turnovers and had just 11% in the two pointers as he ended up with 1/9 for 2's, and Craig Blackmon with 10 points 5 rebounds and 3 assists . While the other two Americans of the Limassol team, McCoy and Taylor scored 5 and 6 points respectively with Taylor adding 11 rebounds too making him the top rebounder of the Super Cup.

It is worth mentioned that Apoel succeeded 21 fast break points in compare to just five from Apoollon Limassol while the two pointers were 49% for Apoel and just 29% for Apollon.
