Georgiou's double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

22-year old Emmelia Georgiou (180-SF-2004) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Anagennises Yermasogias and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
She had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, while her team outclassed Achilleas (#3, 1-1) with 48-point margin 89-41. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Anagennises is placed at 2nd position in Cypriot Division A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Anagennises will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. It's Georgiou's second year at Anagennises and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Georgiou has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (9th best: 12.5ppg), rebounds (6th best: 9.0rpg), assists (8th best: 3.5apg) and averages solid 62.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Demetra Papalla (184-C/F-2003) of top-ranked Asbis AEL Limassol. She is international in her 2nd season at AEL. In the last game Papalla recorded an impressive double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds. Of course she led AEL to another comfortable win outscoring Atlantas (1-2) 66-38. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Papalla is well-known at AEL and she already established her position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to another Anagennises' star - guard Sofia Stylianidi (174-G-2003). Stylianidi showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. She was another key player of Anagennises Yermasogias, helping her team with a 89-41 easy win against #3 ranked Achilleas in a game of the week. Anagennises needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Stylianidi has a great season in Cyprus. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.5ppg (3rd best) and assists with 5.5apg (4th best).
