Metysova and Valkova lead BK Havirov to Czech 1. Liga title in gritty fourth-quarter comeback-May 3, 2026
BK Havirov won the 2025-26 1. Liga Zen championship on Saturday, overcoming a five-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to beat Zabiny Brno B 63-58 in a tense final at Mestska SH ZS Zakovska in front of 170 home fans. The clincher looked bleak for the hosts through three quarters. Zabiny, led by Aneta Kytlicova (175-SG-2005)'s 18 points and Katerina Kalna (190-C-2007)'s 15, controlled the tempo and held a 41-35 lead entering the fourth after limiting Havirov to just three points in a disastrous third period (8-3 to Brno). But coach M. Drtilova's side produced a stunning 28-17 final quarter that transformed the game. Bohdana Metysova (175-SG-2008) was the hero, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and a game-high 10 rebounds — four offensive — for a dominant 26 efficiency rating. Lucie Valkova (170-PG-2005) matched her with 17 points while adding six assists and eight trips to the free-throw line in 20 bench minutes (19 efficiency). The pair combined for 34 of Havirov's 63 points as the hosts' bench outscored Brno's reserves 46-10 — the decisive imbalance in a tight contest. Veronika Szabo (175-G/F-2003) contributed nine points on efficient 3-of-6 shooting, while Eliska Kubickova (174-SG-2003) added five points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a stat-stuffing effort. For Zabiny Brno B Aneta Kytlicova was outstanding with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting and eight trips to the line, while Kalna posted a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Barbora Subova (185-F-2008) added three blocks and four assists but struggled shooting at 1-of-10 from the field. Brno shot 34 percent overall (22-of-63) and committed 22 turnovers — the latter proving fatal as Havirov converted 19 points off those mistakes. In the third-place game, Aritma Praha beat Sokol Pecky 77-63 behind Anita Stenclova (182-SF-2004)'s 21 points (7-of-9 FG) and captain Jana Cermakova (185-F-1984)'s 15 points and 10 rebounds. Praha shot 50 percent from the field and pulled away with a decisive 24-16 third quarter. Z. Peterkova (13) and J. Hruba (13, 10 rebounds) led Pecky in defeat.
