USK Praha claim record-extending 27th Czech title with dominant sweep of Zabiny Brno-Apr 26, 2026
ZVVZ USK Praha completed a perfect domestic season on Sunday, crushing Zabiny Brno 85-49 in Game 3 of the ZBL finals at Kralovka Arena to clinch a record-extending 27th Czech Women's Basketball League championship — and their 14th in a row.
Natalia Hejkova's side did not lose a single domestic game all season, sweeping through the regular season at 22-0, dispatching SBS Ostrava 3-0 in the semifinals, and then overwhelming Zabiny Brno 3-0 in the finals without ever being seriously tested. The Game 3 clincher was the most emphatic performance of the series: USK led 23-9 after the first quarter, 45-19 at halftime, and were never in danger of letting Zabiny back into the contest.
Valeriane Ayayi (184-F-1994) led the way in the clincher with 17 points, six rebounds, and a game-high seven assists on 5-of-11 shooting, connecting on all five of her free throws. Janelle Salaun (188-F-2001) added 14 points and a block while Pauline Astier (179-SG-2002) delivered a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds — five offensive — with five assists and three steals in just 20 minutes. Bridget Carleton (185-F-1997, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 11 points including three three-pointers and four rebounds.
The French connection of Ayayi, Salaun, and Astier combined for 42 of USK's 85 points and 20 rebounds — a microcosm of the international firepower that has kept Prague at the summit of Czech women's basketball for well over a decade.
For Zabiny Brno, Aneta Kytlicova (175-SG-2005) was a lone bright spot with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting, but the gulf in quality was apparent throughout. Brno shot poorly and were outrebounded and outpassed in every quarter, managing just nine points in the first period and 10 in the second as USK's defense suffocated their offensive sets.
USK had set the tone for the series with a comfortable home victory in Game 1, before travelling to Brno for Game 2 and delivering an 85-57 road demolition in which Ayayi posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Game 3 clincher removed any lingering doubt about the destination of the trophy.
The title adds another chapter to USK Praha's extraordinary dynasty. The Prague club has now won 14 consecutive league championships and 27 overall — a run of domestic supremacy that shows no signs of ending. This season's squad also competed in EuroLeague Women Group E alongside Galatasaray, Spar Girona, Famila Schio, Bourges, and Charleville-Mezieres, finishing third in their group with an 8-4 record.
