Round 2 of Semi-Finals. Villeneuve and Ferrol to clash for title

Lyon - Ferrol 74-63

The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-63. Lyon dominated on the defensive end, holding Ferrol to just 6 points in second quarter. They also forced 20 Ferrol turnovers. Center Dominique Malonga (198-2005) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds. Spanish Laura Quevedo (185-1996, college: Miami, FL) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Czech guard Julie Pospisilova (183-1999, college: Wisconsin) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Irish forward Claire Melia (190-1999, college: St.Joseph's) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Ferrol. Four Ferrol players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Villeneuve - Sopron 54-46

It looked good early as Sopron took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Villeneuve had a 16-6 second period charge getting the lead and Sopron was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 46-54. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sopron to just 6 points in second quarter. Center Aminata Gueye (193-2002) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Haley Peters (190-1992, college: Duke) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Jacinta Monroe (196-1988, college: FSU) responded with 6 points and 9 rebounds and Australian guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) scored 11 points. Sopron's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
