Amy Okonkwo (ex Bourges) joins Besiktas

Besiktas JK Istanbul (KBSL) has agreed terms with 28-year old American (who also has a Nigerian passport) power forward Amy Okonkwo (188cm-1996, college: TCU) for the new 2025-26 season. She played last season at Tango Bourges Basket in the French LFB league. In 23 games, she had 14.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.4apg, and 1.0spg. She helped them win the Supercup and reach the league final. The 2024-25 season was great for her as she was named to the Eurobasket.com All-French League Third Team. Okonkwo also played 15 games in the Euroleague, where she recorded impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.8apg, and 1.5spg. She was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-EuroLeague All-Imports Team in 2025.
During the previous (2023-24) season, she played for another French team, Landerneau Bretagne Basket, in France.
She also represented Nigeria at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. During this event, she scored an average of 11 ppg and had 4.8 rpg.
She is a very experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in four different countries. Okonkwo tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. She has played previously professionally in Israel (Maccabi Haifa), Mexico (Halcones) and Spain (Zamora and Leganes).
Okonkwo graduated from Texas Christian University in 2019 and it will be her seventh season as a professional player. She was selected to Eurobasket.com All-EuroLeague All-Imports Team in 2025. Okonkwo played also for University of Southern California for one year.
