Latvian Kristaps Kilps (195-SF-2001) had a great game in the last round for VEF Riga and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 24-year old had the game-high 29 points adding five rebounds and two assists for VEF Riga in his team's victory, helping them to beat Valmiera Glass (#4, 8-3) 85-74. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. VEF Riga maintains the 3rd position in LAT-EST BL . They are still close to the very top. VEF Riga would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 11-2 record. In the team's last game Kilps had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be VEF Riga's top player in his first season with the team. Kristaps Kilps averages this season 13.1ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Cameron Shelton (188-G-1999) of BK Ventspils. Shelton impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Ventspils cruised to a 99-92 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Kalev/Cramo (#6, 6-4). Ventspils' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Shelton is a newcomer at Ventspils and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another VEF Riga's star - Puerto Rican Arnaldo Barea (203-C-1997). Barea scored 11 points and grabbed 22 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of VEF Riga, helping his team with a 85-74 win against #4 ranked Valmiera Glass in a game of the week. VEF Riga is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 11-2 record is not that bad... Barea has a great season in LAT-EST BL. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.0rpg (#1 in league).
