Ventspils are crowned LBL champions. They upset VEF Riga in Game 6 of the title series to lift the trophy. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-78. 27 personal fouls committed by VEF Riga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Aigars Skele (192-92) who scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. He was named the Finals MVP. Lithuanian power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Ken Brown (180-89, college: Philander Smith, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 22 points and Mexican point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports) added 16 points respectively. LBL All-Stars earned a narrow victory in the exciting KML/LBL All-Star Game held in Tallinn tonight. Roberts Freimanis (204-F/C-91, college: BS Liepaja) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the LBL selection. LBL All-Stars jumped to a 41:33 lead after the opening quarter. They boosted the margin at 16-point mark at the interval 73:57. But KML All-Stars picked up the tempo in the second half. They went on a 33:19 rally in the fourth term to force overtime. LBL All-Stars however snatched the win with a 6:5 run in the extra period. Toms Leimanis (190-PG-94) had 17 points, while Alexander Perez Kaufmann (191-PG-93, agency: Pro Sports) provided 15 points in the win. Isaiah Briscoe (191-PG-96, college: Kentucky) answered with game-high 39 points for KML All-Stars. Kristo Saage (186-PG-85) chipped in 19 points in the defeat.
