The most exciting game of round 30 in the Liga Nationala took place in Pitesti. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Pitesti (16-12) to eleventh ranked Targu Mures (14-14) 98-95 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Targu Mures looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Michaelyn Scott (182-1993, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-1987, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Kendall Lewis (203, college: Illinois St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for Pitesti. Pitesti's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Targu Mures moved-up to tenth place. Pitesti lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Sibiu.
The game between 13th ranked Ploiesti CSM (8-20) and fourth ranked Craiova (17-11) in Ploiesti ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Craiova beat Ploiesti CSM 105-88. American point guard Sam Sessoms (182-1999, college: Coppin St.) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Vlad Nistor chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Craiova have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-11 record, which they share with Rapid. Ploiesti CSM at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 20 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 30: Sibiu beat Brasov on the road 89-78. Voluntari won against Steaua on its own court 89-76. Dinamo managed to outperform Valcea in Bucuresti 88-81. Rapid managed to beat Timisoara at home 93-89.

Brasov - Sibiu 78-89

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Sibiu (16-12) beat on the road 12th ranked Brasov (12-16) 89-78. The game was mostly controlled by Sibiu. Brasov was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Brasov 50-31 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sibiu players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Keith Stone (206-1997, college: Miami, FL) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Anthony Smith (203-1997, college: Murray St.) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Trendon Hankerson (188-2000, college: Akron, agency: 011 Sports) with 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Tyrell Johnson (203-1997, college: App State) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brasov's coach Florin Nini tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sibiu have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pitesti. Brasov at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost.

Very expected game when 10th ranked Steaua (13-15) lost on the road to third ranked Voluntari (20-8) 89-76. The game was mostly controlled by Voluntari. Steaua was better in second period 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Voluntari made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Very predictable result when second ranked Dinamo (20-8) won against 9th ranked Valcea (15-13) in Ramnicu Valcea 88-81. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-21. But Valcea won second period 29-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Dinamo won last quarter 21-16. Valcea was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Guard Marcus Lewis (196-1992, college: EKU) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jonathan Stark (184-1995, college: Murray St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward DeAndre Pinckney (203-2000, college: Southern Miss) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and guard Bryn Forbes (190-1993, college: Michigan St.) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dinamo maintains second position with 20-8 record having just one point less than leader Cluj Napoca, which they share with Voluntari.
