Pinar Karsiyaka SK Izmir (BSL) signed experienced 34-year old USA ex-international guard Xavier Munford (193cm-82kg-1992, college: URI) for the upcoming 2026-27 season. He played last season at UNICS Kazan in the Russian VTB United League. In 5 games, he had 5.2ppg, 2.2rpg, and 1.2apg. He also played for Hapoel Holon (Winner League) in the Israeli league.
In 2014, he was drafted by the Maine Red Claws (D-League) in the third round (51st overall).
Munford graduated from the University of Rhode Island, and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
He tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016. Munford was a member of the USA Senior National Team between 2017 and 2022.
Munford is a highly experienced player, having played in eleven different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America). He has played professionally in Australia (Phoenix), China (Sturgeons), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv), Italy (Umana Venezia), Spain (FC Barcelona), NBA (LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies), Turkey (Bursaspor), NBA G League (NAZ Suns, Delaware Blue Coats, Greensboro Swarm, and Wisconsin Munfordrd), The Basketball Tournament (Money Team and Herd That), and NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks). He played in the final of VTB United League in 2026.
Among many awards, he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention back in 2023. He also played for Iowa Western Community College for one year.
