Naturalized Nigerian Swingman Samuel Toluwase (194-F/G-1985) put on an amazing game in the last round for Birmingham City University, receiving a Hoops Agents NBL D1 Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 41-year old player was the main contributor (41 points, eight rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Cardiff MA (#10, 1-4) 88-83. Birmingham Univ. is placed at 7th position in British NBL D1. Birmingham Univ. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. In the team's last game Toluwase had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Birmingham Univ. and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former University of Guelph star has very solid stats this year. Toluwase is league's best scorer averaging so far 36.3ppg. Toluwase is in league's top in and averages impressive 64.1% FGP. Worth to mention Toluwase played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was American Porter Kelly (185-G) of Sheffield Arrows. Kelly had a very good evening with a triple-double of 27 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. Bad luck as Arrows was edged by slightly lower-ranked Sheffield Sh. 2 (#6, 3-3) 104-101. Sheffield A. managed to keep the same 5th spot in Group A. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 3-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Kelly is a newcomer at Sheffield A., but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.8ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 7.2rpg and 5.4apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Zewelanji Sinkala of Leicester Warriors (#11). Sinkala got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . He was a key player of Warriors, leading his team to a 82-73 win against Liverpool (#12, 0-6). Leicester W. can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 1-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Sinkala has individually a great season in United Kingdom. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.0ppg (2nd best).
