Regular Season Round 12: AEL - Anorthosis 86-83

The most exciting game of round 12 in the OPAP Basket League took place in Limassol. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengersAnorthosis (6-5) to fourth ranked AEL (7-4) 86-83 in the game for the third place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Anorthosis won third quarter 24-22 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AEL made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Tyrn Bryan Flowers (206-1998, college: LIU Brooklyn) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and forward TJ Bickerstaff (206, college: JMU) who added 20 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. AEL's coach Kalia Papadopoulou used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was point guard Jarvis Garrett (182-1995, college: URI) with 20 points and 9 assists and center Derek Culver (208-1998, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AEL moved-up to third place. Anorthosis at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost.
