Regular Season Round 2: Besiktas - Athinaikos 87-84

There was a minor upset when GreekAthinaikos were edged by Turkish Besiktas in Istanbul 87-84 on Thursday. Besiktas made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Greek center Maria Fasoula (196-1997, college: Vanderbilt) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Nigerian-American power forward Amy Okonkwo (188-1996, college: TCU) supported her with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds by American swingman Alexis Prince (188-1994, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Athinaikos . Bulgarian forward Borislava Hristova (182-1996, college: WSU) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Athinaikos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
