Regular Season Round 9: Spartak SP - MBA-2 83-79

There was no surprise in Saint Petersburg where 8th rankedMBA-2 (5-9) was defeated by second ranked Spartak (11-3) 83-79 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Spartak made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 MBA-2 turnovers. Strangely MBA-2 outrebounded Spartak 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Darya Sharova (171-2002) who scored 34 points (!!!) (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Polina Veselova (184-2000) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Marya Boyko (194-2007) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and center Mariya Ushakova (196-2006, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. MBA-2's coach Andrey Dolopchi tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Spartak . They maintain second place with 11-3 record behind leader Dynamo-Farm. MBA-2 lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost.
