Regular Season Round 4: Fiat TO - Darussafaka 60-89
Date: November 1, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Italian Fiat TO (3-1) in Torino. Hosts were rolled over by Turkish Darussafaka (4-0) 89-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fiat TO. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. Fiat TO was better in second period 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fiat TO to just 4 points in third quarter. It was a great shooting night for Darussafaka especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. The winners were led by American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) supported him with 21 points. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) did not help to save the game for Fiat TO. Power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (208-91, agency: Two Points) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Darussafaka have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 4-0 record. Fiat TO at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. Darussafaka will play against bottom-ranked Andorra (#5) at home in the next round. Fiat TO will play against Unics Kazan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
