Hapoel Tel Aviv are crowned EuroCup champions. They beat Gran Canaria on the road to sweep the championship series., Gran Canaria trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 20-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-103 at the end of the game. H.Tel-Aviv shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Gran Canaria helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Antonio Blakeney (193-1996, college: LSU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Johnathan Motley (207-1995, college: Baylor) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Puerto Rican center George Conditt IV (208-2000, college: Iowa St.) replied with 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Argentinian Nicolas Brussino (205-1993) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria. Montero's exceptional play earned him the fifth spot in assists per game, boasting an impressive average of over 5. He also registered over 13 points per game over the season in the league. Montero's 32 points against the Joventut were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. Among many awards he was selected to the Eurobasket All-Spanish Liga Endesa Best Young Player of the Year between 2023 and 2024. He was also selected to the Eurobasket All-Spanish LEB Silver Defensive Player of the Year as well as the All-Spanish LEB Silver First Team and the All-Imports Team back in 2021.
Jaleen Smith, 30-year old American point guard Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul from Turkey, was voted to the First Team of BKT Eurocup. He is alumni of the New Hampshire from 2017. Smith was also selected to the Imports Team. He orchestrated his way to the fourth spot in assists per game, showcasing a dazzling average of over 5.
